Taihei was a factory that produced a full range of bicycle seats and also bags and other consumer products produced from vinyls. Founded by Katsuhiko `KATCHAN` Kitaguchi, the company flourished because of Katchan`s terrific personality, his never tiring hard work, and the ability of his employees to produce high quality products in a timely manner.

Taihei was famous in the BMX segment for the Elina Seats.

  • March 1979 - BMX Action releases news that the Taihei Saddle Co., the company that manufactured the Suzuki/Maytex Seat, would be releasing the same seat minus the padding.

  • September 1979 - Featured as a current product in the Everything Bicycles double page advertisement printed in BMX Action.
