Addicks Chainring

No comments
Created by Lyle Addicks, founder of Addicks Engineering in Los Angeles, California. Addicks chainrings were created by injection moulding Millardium, a super-tough blend of DuPont Zytel with Teflon and silicone.

Addicks Chainrings came with 39 to 48 teeth and were available in red, blue, yellow, white and graphite.

The Addicks Sprockets went through three phases:
  • Phase I - original swiss cheese sprocket made from DuPont Zytel with Teflon and silicone. These were strong and tough.
  • Phase II - The compound was changed and these sprockets begun to break easily;
  • Phase III - Released in 1978 and moved back to the original DuPont Zytel with Teflon and silicone formula with additional tweaks to make them better.

Cheng Shin C183 Tires

No comments
"At one time about 3 years ago (1979), Cheng Shins pretty much dominated the racing scene. You can still find plenty of racers on them. The compound is good for a variety of terrains but it wors best in soft dirt. This Cheng Shin makes an excellent fire road tire, front or rear. The Cheng Shin 1.75 is a very good tire to compliment the 2.125 Cheng Shin. For those who are looking for durability in tires the Cheng Shins have it. Factory Bridgestone rider Jeff Day uses these 1.75's almost exclusively." ~ Tire Comparison Review by Bob Hadley in BMX Plus!, March 1981.

The Cheng Shin C183 tire was available as a blackwall in 20 x 1.75" and 20 x 2.125" size.
